“In the beginning, I waffled about whether I should try selling my house on my own, use Redfin (or equivalent) or find a real estate agent. But selling a house in San Francisco is, to put it mildly, a challenge – pricing strategy, scheduling, staging, and the labyrinthine city system must all be navigated effectively if one wishes to maximize profit and minimize hassle. In shopping around for real estate agents, I drew on my network and listened to (too?) many opinions.
It is near-impossible for me to imagine a better San Francisco real estate agent than Joan Laguatan. She always provided excellent input and intelligent critique on every facet of house selling, every step of the way. I was not in the country during this process, and Joan was “on the ground” organizing everything with contractors, painters, handymen, gardeners, etc. She always showed me multiple competitive quotes/offers for every job, and the results were always impeccable (from the photos she consistently sent to me in Denmark). She also had her own staging furniture, and between that and using some of my own mid-century Danish design furniture, no staging costs accrued. Whether in home improvements, repairs, or staging, no detail escaped her artistic and holistic – to not say spiritual – eye.
Her enormous efforts bore fruit. A lovely family bought my home for the price I had hoped for, and it all seems like a win-win for both buyer and seller. Joan helped oversee the sale to completion by, again, being present every step of the way. (Her extreme competence and wisdom even permitted me to take a small vacation during escrow.) Add to this that she is endlessly fascinating to talk to, with perfect people skills as well as powerful and subtle artistic, cultural, and philosophical sensibilities.
You will only regret NOT having chosen Joan Laguatan as your San Francisco real estate agent. Thank you, Joan.”
